THE FLAX CONE, EXPRESSIVE AND NATURAL
This flax cone has been exclusively made in France by Focal since 2013. With its original design, it is 100% geared towards acoustic performance. This sandwich cone is formed of a flax fibre core placed between two thin sheets of glass fibre. Flax is a fibre with the unique ability to reproduce a very natural sound without colouration, with a rich reproduction in the midrange and clear bass strokes. Its lightness offers great dynamics, while its rigidity sustains the bass and provides good damping to deliver a faithful listening experience. Flax fibre is twice as light as glass fibre as it is hollow. Its very low elasticity makes it ideal for increasing the flexural rigidity module of a sandwich structure.

In bridged mode, it delivers 2×370 Watts RMS at 4 Ohms, enabling it to power a significant subwoofer channel with channels 3 and 4.
It is also stable at 2 Ohms (4×185 Watts RMS) so it can also be used for powering different types of speaker drivers.

TECHNOLOGY PLATFORM FROM FD AMPLIFIERS
The technology used for Impulse 4.320 was inspired by the Performance range’s FD amplifiers.
With an efficiency of more than 90%, Class D amplification has numerous advantages: less heat, low power consumption, low distortion at high volumes, compact…With the Impulse 4.320 amplifier, an unbeatable size/power ratio has been achieved. It delivers 4 x 55 or 2 x 160 Watts RMS at 4 Ohms.
Thanks to the adequate power and the fast attack for realistic and more aerated sound, it will completely transform the sound of your front and rear speaker drivers.
VERY EASY TO INSTALL AND PERFECT INTEGRATION
Impulse 4.320 – Cables Measuring only 67/8 x 17/8 x 25/8″ (17.65 x 4.6 x 6.7 cm) Impulse 4.320 can easily be concealed within the dashboard or the centre console.
Equipped with high-level (automatic detection feature) and low-level inputs, it is compatible with all head units. Supplied with all fastenings, an adaptor for the head unit’s speaker driver outputs, RCA adaptors for aftermarket head units and power connector, this amp was specially designed to be easy to install. No direct hook up to the vehicle’s battery is required.
An optional ISO connector is available for “Plug&Play” connectivity via the head unit’s harness.
Note: On certain cars, a harness adapter may be necessary.
EXTREMELY VERSATILE
To ensure compatibility with different head units, this amplifier features a 2-channel or 4-channel input selector switch.
Most of all, Impulse 4.320 has been designed to power front and rear speaker drivers. However, it can also be used in a 3-channel or 2-channel mode in order to meet all needs for improving small installations and it can also be used for powering the front speaker drivers and a small subwoofer.
Each pair of channels features an active crossover to adapt the sonic response according to the speaker drivers used. The front channels can be used for wideband speaker drivers or the high-pass filter can be used for frequencies above 75 Hz when only small speaker drivers are used. By avoiding having small speaker drivers reproduce very low frequencies, the sound will have more clarity. The rear channels are equipped with an active crossover (wideband, high-pass or low-pass) and with progressive phase adjustment for powering a small subwoofer or wideband speaker drivers of different sizes.

Extremely Versatile
With the FPX 5.1200, installation of this hi-fi system is much easier as there's only one amplifier and one power supply to fit into the vehicle.
In order to control this 5-channel installation (with front and rear speaker drivers, and a subwoofer), the FPX 5.1200 features a wide range of settings. The input selector (2/4/6 channels) duplicates channels, meaning there will always be 5 output channels, even if the head unit only has one or two stereo outputs.
For the main speaker drivers, each pair of channels has an adjustable active crossover. To perfectly tune the subwoofer to the rest of the installation, the bass channel has a low-pass active crossover, a bass equaliser, phase adjustment and a subsonic filter (particularly useful for cutting off frequencies which are too low for a small subwoofer).
The remote control enables you to adjust the bass level from the driving seat depending on the type of music you’re listening to. Stable at 4 and 2 Ohms, this new FPX amplifier will drive most speaker drivers on the market with just the right amount of power: 4 x 75 Watts + 1 x 420 Watts RMS at 4 Ohms (CEA standard). With the launch of the FPX 5.1200, Focal now offers a full range of amplifiers, from the Impulse ‘Plug & Play’ amplifier to the audiophile FPX amplifier. Through our compact FD amplifiers, Focal is able to meet the expectations of all those looking for a car audio amplifier.
With its high power, great musicality and compact design, as well as being ideal for powering a complete installation with Flax or K2 Power speaker drivers, the FPX 5.1200 will meet all the expectations of hi-fi car audio enthusiasts.
Extensive research for unprecedented power in a compact enclosure
Delivering very high power from such a compact enclosure is a true challenge. The more heat an amplifier produces, the higher the risk of distortion affecting the system’s musicality.
By using Class D technology, Focal has reduced the need for heat dissipation for its FPX range.
However, in order to achieve high efficiency and to optimise reliability, FPX amplifiers required extensive research: the selection of the best components, a thick aluminium chassis, very precise positioning of the components, monitoring heat dissipation with a thermal camera and accelerated aging tests in draconian conditions.
Focal’s goal is to offer electronics equipment which is very compact and powerful, but without sacrificing musicality.
The dimensions of the 5-channel FPX 5.1200 amplifier (337 x 175 x 57mm / 13.25"x 6.8" x 2.25") are nearly the same as the FPX 4.400 SQ. The FPX 5.1200 has a maximum power of 4 x 120 Watts + 1 x 720 Watts at 2 Ohms!
