The Future of Vehicle Charging is Here!FAQsWill Engine Heat Affect the VSS System? This is the most commonly asked question about our VSS System. It is a fact that solar cells lose efficiency as they warm up, however the simple answer is NO, engine heat will not have an effect on how the VSS system operates. Why you ask? Well, the main benefit of the VSS system is that it provides power to your vehicle battery when the engine is NOT running (and therefore not not). When the engine is running (and hot) the vehicle’s alternator is doing the majority of the charging and not the solar panel. This means there is very little effect from the additional heat on the system when the system is used for its intended benefits. In order to help with the heat build-up, each VSS panel is prepped with closed cell neoprene on the back of the panel. This serves two purposes; it lifts the panel up off of the bonnet creating an air packet between the panel and the bonnet allowing for cooling, while also helping to protect the vehicle bonnet from any contact with the back of the panel. Will the VSS System work with my battery? The MPPT charge controller included in our complete kits are programmed to charge a wide variety of battery types. Our system will work with AGM, Lead-Acid and Gel Cell Type Batteries. *we do not recommend the use of Optima Batteries with the VSS system. Can it be removed? Once installed the VSS system is not designated to be removed from the vehicle. Add a carrier bearing drop kit to reduce post-lift driveline angles and avoid / eliminate driveshaft vibration. Will fit RWD models. The front differential related parts will not be used. With a 20" Wheel, 5"-6" backspacing is recommended. In some cases vehicles used in 4WD on the highway regularly could potentially experience a minor front driveline vibration. If this occurs we recommend replacing the front driveshaft with a dual cardan style driveshaft. (BDS121612) Requires frame bracket modification. Stock wheels and stock tyres cannot be reinstalled due to tie rod end interference. Disassembly/assembly of the factory torsion bar system requires the use of a special unloading tool. The GM specified tool # is CH48809. Compatible with diesel models ONLY. Works with standard or AT4 diesel models. Some minor trim will be required with certain wheel/tire combination. This is normal with most aftermarket tire/wheel fitment on Chevy/GM trucks. Trimming will normally include the bottom edge of the inner fender shrouds and/or lower corner of front bumper valance. As a rule of thumb, deeper backspacing and shorter/narrower tires will reduce/eliminate trimming required. Further trimming tips are included at the end of this instruction sheet. In some cases vehicles used in 4WD on the highway regularly could potentially experience a minor front driveline vibration. If this occurs we recommend replacing the front driveshaft with a dual Cardan style driveshaft. Coilover coil has a large amount of preload, a coil spring compressor must be used to remove the coil from the coilover. Failure to use a coil spring compressor may result in death or injury. Do not increase coilover preload. For DRW models, use the w/ overload rear lift option.
